* RARE AND LARGE BUDDHA
in carved wood and lacquered red gold, representing Shakyamuni seated in dhyanasana, his right hand raised in vitarka-mudra (gesture of argumentation), holding the mirobolam fruit, the left hand resting on his folded legs, palm upwards; the deity is draped in the monastic robe covering both shoulders and leaving the torso bare where the swastika appears. The sculpture rests on a large lotiform base in carved and lacquered wood, to which it is not attached.
(Numerous accidents, cracks and missing lacquer; part of the hair and the index and little fingers of the right hand are missing).
