Sumptuous flounce of Rochet in Argentan lace with Chinoiserie decoration, linen, needlework circa 1725-1735, 18th century.
Model with two interlocking symmetrical compositions showing a Chinese seated in lotus position under an awning on the one hand, on a vase and under a wreath and garland of flowers on the other hand. The whole work is made in festoon stitch and decorated with cut-outs. The designs are filled with various decorative motifs and provided with raised contour lines. The large scallops/shells along the bottom stem from the pattern. Hexagonal twisted mesh network, beautiful matte, creamy white linen (superb condition, irregular cutouts along the motifs to be laid flat but integrity of the ruffle in shape).
Dim : 64 x 320 cm
