RARE IMPERIAL BOWL IN SCULPTURED RED LAKE, China, Qing dynasty, Qianlong period (1736-1795) Hemispherical, resting on a small foot decorated with Greek, the rim finely carved with six dragons moving among the clouds, the interior lined with a bronze bowl; small restorations, cracks and the bronze bowl detached D. 20.5 cm (8 in.) A rare imperial carved red lacquer 'dragon' bowl, China, Qing dynasty, Qianlong period (1736-1795) 清 乾隆 御制剔红云龙纹盏 A bowl and stand with dragon decoration is illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum - lacquer Wares of the Qing Dynasty, 2006, p. 21, pl. 12. A gilt-bronze lined bowl resting on its nearly identical stand was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, April 6, 2015. A similar bowl with its stand was sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, October 8, 2009, lot 1647. A red-lacquer bowl and stand carved with dragons is illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum - lacquer Wares of the Qing Dynasty, 2006, p. 21, pl. 12. An almost identical bowl and stand was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 6 April 2015. A similar bowl and stand was sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 8 October 2009, lot 1647.
