Man Ray, whose real name was Emmanuel Radnitsky, was an American photographer and artist born on August 27, 1890 in Philadelphia and died on November 18, 1976 in Paris. He belonged to the Dada movement and frequented the surrealist milieu. He invented with Lee Miller the process of solarization and is known to be one of the pioneers of modernity in painting, film and photography. Man Ray lived much of his life in France and was a prominent member of the French Surrealist circle. He worked with many artists of the time, such as Marcel Duchamp and Kiki de Montparnasse.
