Portrait of a man in Ottoman dress Oil on canvas. 122 x 108 cm Beautiful stuccoed and gilded wood frame in the classical style of the 19th century with a Marilhat cartouche. This type of portraits was practiced in particular at the Ottoman court of Constantinople by the European artists who stayed there in the second half of the 18th century. This model of a man dressed in oriental style, in a nonchalant pause was taken up by the artists -travelers of the Romantic period. Either to represent the natives of high society, or to represent themselves between artists in the orientalist taste.
