Famous ceramist Diego Fernández Castro was known for works in which he reproduced different artistic elements of the Alhambra. These became objects of great value highly appreciated by collectors. This piece reproduces the famous Gazelles vase also known as the Alhambra vase, this unique example is a masterpiece of 14th century Hispano-Moorish faience art. It originated in Malaga and was later supposedly found filled with gold pieces in the garden of the Alhambra. Inscriptions, animal figures and vegetal arabesques painted in blue, white and gold enamel adorn the vase and one of the surviving winged handles.
