This work is an early idea of what would become the Tapestry of the Guild of Professionals and Artists, commissioned in 1931 by Marcello Piacentini along with six other corporate tapestries destined for the hall of the Council of Corporations of the new Ministry of Industry and Commerce in Via Veneto in Rome. The cartoons developed by Ferrazzi would be woven from 1932 to 1934 in the textile workshop of brothers Pio and Silvio Eroli on Via del Babuino.
The essence of the project is gathered in this sketch, as Ferrazzi here depicts himself on the right, the father figure of Stanislao on the left, and in the center between the two Carlo Castria, a great friend as well as his lawyer and neighbor on Via degli Astalli 20, all goliardically reclining under a tree nestled in the countryside, a place of artistic and philosophical conversation and confrontation. To this image Ferrazzi remains strongly attached, and he reproposes it a few years later with the mosaic technique in the Apocalypse crypt of the Ottolenghi Mausoleum in Acqui
