A snaphaunce lock pistol by Bastian Giusti
dating: First half of the 18th Century provenance: Florence, Smoothbore, two-stage, octagonal and round, 11 mm cal. barrel, with two brass-inlaid marks at the base, one marked 'XICOI' under crown, the other with a lion. Surface slightly engraved, with rings at the girdle and floral engraving at the nozzle. Finely engraved tang. Lock with flat lock plate and oblique borders, signed 'BASTIAN GIUSTI' at the center and engraved with the bust of a woman between spirals. Hammer and batterie engraved with floral motifs, the hammer screw decorated with a flower. Slightly engraved full stock, with beautiful brass mounts, the counter-plate with a bust between floral motifs, the butt-plate with mask in high relief. Engraved brass-tipped wooden ramrod. length 22 cm.
