A rare snaphaunce lock pistol with spring bayonet
dating: late 18th Century provenance: Tuscany, Smoothbore, two-stage, 11 mm cal. barrel, with rings at the girdle and nozzle with moulded muzzle; with a snap bayonet above the barrel, tang with sliding button to unlock the blade. Lock with flat lock plate, oblique borders and lowered, engraved end, cock and batterie engraved with floral motifs. Sliding pan cover. Full stock made of lightly carved briarwood. Fine iron mounts carved with floral motifs in bas-relief. Iron-tipped wooden ramrod and iron cartridge extractor. length 23.5 cm.
