Beautiful and large engraved map divided into three large sheets joined together and depicting the province of Alsace in the early 18th century.
This topographic and military map, nearly one meter eighty long, was made by the cartographer Jacques Michal (16..-1733) and printed in Augsburg by Matthäus Seutter (1678-1757). It shows the relief, the rivers, the forests, the boundaries and the coats of arms of the different seigneuries, towns and villages of Alsace, from the town of Porrentry (Brondrutt) to Landau.
The Alsatian border has been painted in green, and others in red and yellow. The cities and towns are indicated in red and the coat of arms is painted in yellow and surrounded by green. The frame is painted in yellow.
Nice copy on canvas and framed. Traces of folds. Black spot at the level of the city of Hagenbach at the bottom right of the map.
