History
The iconography of the representation of the Resurrection above the Descent into Hell became widespread in the 17th century. In the center, Christ is depicted trampling on the gates of Hell and holding Adam's hand in order to extricate him. The two registers are linked by the diagonals of
diagonals of golden nimbus of angels ascending from Hell to Paradise.
