Mottled calf, triple gilt fillet, spine decorated, marbled edges (period binding). Hill, 909. First edition of the French translation revised by the comte de Mirabeau, published the same year as the English original. Relation of the shipwreck of Captain H. Wilson's vessel off the Palau Islands. The crew succeeded, with the help of the natives, in building a boat, and in returning to Macao, accompanied by Prince Lee Boo, son of the local king. This account was written from Wilson's journal and communications. Pages 371 to the end contain a Pelew-French vocabulary. A very good copy, complete with the plates and the large folding map showing among others the Philippines. Small old restorations on the spine.
