First edition of the French translation of Thomas Forrest's (1729?-1802?) famous voyage to the Moluccas. Pages 443 to 458 contain the vocabulary of the Magindano language in the Philippines. A sailor and hydrographer, Forrest was employed by the English India Company and served under Admiral Pocock during the confrontations between the English and the French in Bengal.
Good copy, spine restored and rebacked.
Well complete with the rare portrait and errata page
