Eight years of cruising in the Pacific Ocean. Before 1903. 7 volumes in-folio (318 x 205 mm) autograph manuscript, ink on paper, 1234 ff.ch. numbered in grease pencil. Purple percale.
Complete autograph manuscript, which represents reworkings of the final text. The leaves are corrected and sometimes contain long additions, pasted in paperolles as is known from Proust. The title is here still in a working version, before adopting the final state of Chez les Cannibales - Huit ans de croisière...
A note on the cover indicates that this manuscript was bought in 1947 from Father Jacques de Mahuel, professor at the major seminary of Moulins, who bought it from the Baron de Veance, at the castle of Veance located in the Allier.
It was used to print the work, published by Plon & Nourrit and it bears the printer's stamp on the first guard as well as the foliation and some notes in the usual grease pencil.
