First edition in French of this monumental publication dedicated to Africa, containing descriptions of the Islamic world of the north (from Morocco to Egypt), Abyssinia, Central and Southern Africa, Madagascar, Malta, the Canary Islands and other islands of the African coast. Nearly 100 pages are devoted to Barbary. The copy is complete with the large map of Africa and 42 double-page plates including 13 maps and 26 views (Cairo, a caravan from Cairo on its way to Mecca, the pyramids, etc.). Illustration is completed by 55 very beautiful and large vignettes showing the fauna, the flora, the inhabitants and their habits and customs. A very good copy, complete (a small hole in the view of the Fort of Tacaray), corners and headpieces skillfully restored.
