First edition of the first French edition of Captain Cook's second voyage by J.-B. A Suard. It contains very important accounts of the discoveries made in Australia, New Zealand, and Tahiti. Volume 5 bears this slightly different title announcing details on natural history translated after Forster: "...on geography, natural history, and moral philosophy, and in particular on the earth & its strata; water & the ocean; the atmosphere; the revolutions of the globe; the organized bodies; and the human species.
