It is decorated with the same maps, plans and views. At war with Spain, England appointed Admiral Anson to lead a fleet of six ships to attack the Spanish possessions in America. The squadron reached Brazil and sailed to Patagonia. In the Strait of Magellan, Anson lost four of his ships and two-thirds of his men. However, he continued his route in the Pacific to the Philippines and Macao, made numerous catches and returned with a large amount of booty. The voyage is illustrated with 34 plates and maps including a map of Manila and a map of the Philippine Islands. [Bound in the suite]: [ANSON, George]. Voyage à la mer du sud, fait par quelques commandants le vaisseau Le Wager: pour servir de suite au Voyage de Georges Anson. Lyon, Duplain brothers, 1756. In-4. XVI, 183 pp. Borba de Moraes, I, 39. First edition of the French translation of this supplement relating the sinking of one of the ships of the expedition commanded by Anson, the Wager, and the adventure of the survivors on an island off Patagonia. It contains the memoirs left by four officers who participated in the expedition: Bulkelei, Cummino, Campbell and Morris. There is also information about Bahia, Rio de Janeiro and Santa Catherina. A very good copy.
