A very old female statuette of a rare type, her hands placed on either side of her sex, her arms applied along her body and forming a diamond shape, her small enigmatic head resting on her long neck is turned towards her left, clearly indicating her movement, her legs spread and camped with vigor. The whole sculpture is covered with a superb material characteristic of objects often attributed essentially to the Tellem (meaning in the Dogon language "those who were here before us") and which obviously also testifies to its very great antiquity.
Dogon (or Tellem), Mali
Wood, missing parts visible at the bottom (old breaks), old chip visible at the occiput, superb old patina of use.
