A sugar press decorated with a sculpture of an ancestor adorned with a necklace. Many of these sculptures, probably sugar cane presses, appeared on the Indonesian antiquities market several decades ago, showing all the obvious signs and stigma of artificially aged copies. Specialists cannot imagine that a sculpture of an ancestor could adorn such an object of use. Our example, whether a curiosity or a rarity, seems to have all the signs of an authentic, ancient object, and not a re-carving of an old wine press.
