Provenance Collection George Viau, Paris; Neue Galerie Richard, Zurich; Private collection South Germany George Viau (1855 - 1939), whose garden the present work represents, was one of France's leading dentists and a major art collector. Beginning around 1890, he built a private collection that included quality works by nearly all of the notable French artists of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Viau also maintained personal contacts with numerous artists of his time, in addition to Albert Lebourg, these included Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Claude Monet.
