MOREAU Gustave. Autograph letter signed by the painter to the enameller Claudius Popelin (Paris, July 29, 1886; 3 pages in-8 on mourning paper.
Although "sick and saddened" the painter addresses a charming letter of thanks for the book Popelin gave him [Histoire d'avant-hier, poem, Charpentier, 1886].
"I can't tell you enough the charm I felt living for a few moments in this dream that came out of your soul. What a wonderful evocation! How you knew how to find these delicate nuances, these subtle impressions, its enchantments & also the passionate impulses of these fleeting years of youth... "
