BERLIOZ Hector. Autograph letter signed H. Berlioz to a music lover from Breslau, Ferdinand Friedland. Dresden, Hotel de l'Ange d'or, April 14 [1854]; 3 pages in-8. He will never forget the service Friedland did him when he left for Russia (1847). "Mrs. Friedland thought she would find a piano at my place and be able to let me hear your young virtuoso. But I don't have one... I would have been very happy to go to Prague this time. But Scraub, the choirmaster, wrote to me... he made me see no possibility of giving a concert there. Present in Dresden until May 2, he plans concerts, at the theater on the 22nd and 29th " We will give Faust, Romeo and Juliet, Flight into Egypt, King Lear ". [These concerts took place]. "If the director of the Prague theater wanted to stage Faust, there would be a chance of a good return. Strackati would make a very good Mephistopheles, and we would be able to do it...".
