EXCEPTIONAL JEWEL-BRACKET
Imposing jewel-bracket in ash burr and very rich chased and gilded bronze trim.
Base in plinth inlaid with friezes of palms and rosettes in mother-of-pearl on a rosewood background.
Eight straight uprights with bronze appliques. It opens in front of a row of three drawers in the belt decorated with friezes of mother-of-pearl beads supported by bows of ribbons and butterflies in bronze.
The slightly recessed upper part has half-columns with bronze bases and capitals and opens with three leaves decorated with muses, cherubs, attributes and necklaces of mother-of-pearl beads. They release showcases with glass doors and a mirror background.
The pediments are decorated with eight bronze doves and an openwork frieze with palmettes.
Stamped three times: "E.BRUNET 20 rue de la Perle à Paris".
Work of the 1920s.
It is an exact replica of the model of jewel box delivered by Jacob to Empress Josephine at the Tuileries in 1809, then having belonged to Empress Marie-Louise. Nevertheless, the interior has been updated (display cases, shelves), and the base is not decorated with the pair of vases and the gilt bronze perfume burner.
