JAPAN - MOMOYAMA period (1573 - 1603)/Early EDO period (1603 - 1868)
Important hoshi-bachi type helmet with sixty-two riveted iron slats, the visor (mabizashi), the fins (fukigaeshi) and the neck cover (shikoro) made of iron with four black lacquered slats of hineno type, and blue laced, the back ornament (ushirodate) in the form of seven gold lacquered wooden rays, the top ornament (tehen kanamono) in the form of twenty-four petal chrysanthemums on a rigid fan-shaped base chased with scrolls.
