Three columns with ionic capitals in limestone, Roman Gaul, 1st BC. - 1st AD. H. 221 cm approx. diam.base : 40 cm approx. dim.capitals : 39 x 39 cm. Provenance : Swiss collection from the 80's. The capitals are sculpted on all four sides. On each one, two volutes, on both sides, to which are attached wings and a small row of ovals that separate them. For a very similar capital, Musée d'histoire de Marseille. Found during the excavation of the block of 55 rue de la cathédrale in Marseille; it was buried in a pit dated to the Augustus-Tiberean period (1st century BC - 1st century AD). It is an isolated column from a funerary or votive monument whose emblematic element, which has disappeared today, was carried by the column.
