Suzanne Cabannes Collection (1907-1992), a French woman in Tunis, lover of art of the years 1920-1950.
The following set of works is from the Suzanne Cabannes collection (Argeliers 1907 - Tunis 1992). Born in France in the village of Argeliers in the Aude in 1907, just a few days before the historic Revolt of the Winegrowers which took place that same year, Suzanne Cabannes' parents were exiled to Tunis following the political scandal of the revolt.
Suzanne Cabannes quickly developed a passion for art and was particularly involved in the Salon tunisien - Institut de Carthage, Section artistique - an event that was active from the 1920s to the 1950s in Tunis. In this salon, were exhibited among others: Alexandre Roubtzoff, Ammar Farhat, Edmond Küss (of which an important painting of 1936 is preserved at the Centre Pompidou, Paris).
