Magnificent flintlock shotgun, double barrel in table by Pirmet in Paris. Tobacco colored ribbon damascus barrel with gold palmettes and foliage, signed in gold letters: "Pirmet à Paris" and "Arqr des Princes"; gold palmettes on the muzzle; silver sights on a gold snake; platinum trimmed lights; length 79,5 cm, caliber 15 mm. Flat-body locks with gold damascene, decorated with foliage on the rear and signed, in the middle: "PIRMET À PARIS"; damascene lug hammers in suite; scroll basins with platinum fittings; pebble springs; gold damascene breech tail in suite, with eye sight. Beautiful and wide silver fittings finely chased; trigger guard presenting a hunting trophy : a boar hanging by a leg from a tree where a hunting horn hangs and, at the foot, a dog and a dog's head at the front, return adorned with a naked man holding a spear with a dog on a pedestal and on the rear part a caduceus; chased ramrod entrance of Diana the hunter holding an arrow, a doe near her; strong bedplate, the sides chased with hunting scenes surmounted with the head of Diana surrounded by two dogs, the return also presents Diana preparing to shoot with a bow, a dog at her feet; all screws are gold damascened. Walnut stock, almost entirely carved with foliage around the locks, rosettes along the barrels; barrel decorated with scales and, near the ramrod entrance, carved with a wolf's head; around the breech tail, two bird's heads and foliage; handle carved with scales, ending with a stag's head; cheekpiece decorated with foliage and a rosette. Fruitwood stick, ending with a horn tip. Total length 122 cm. The end of the butt end was slightly extended at the time to shoulder. Late First Empire, early Restoration period. Very good condition, close to new. POINÇONS: cock 1st title of Paris, 1809/1819; average guarantee of Paris, 1809/1819; association of goldsmiths of Paris, 1793. Harquebusier of the King of Westphalia Jerome, 1807/1813; harquebusier fourbisseur of Mgr the Duke of Angouleme and of the Menus pleasures of the King, in 1816; very great harquebusier of which one knows few things: very beautiful shotgun with the initials: "J N" with the museum of hunting in Paris; another also with the museum of hunting in Gien; a shotgun of Jerome King of Westphalia in the castle of Bois-Préau (perhaps, today, in Fontainebleau).
