French painter, draughtsman, lithographer and sculptor born in Saumur, André Brasilier is in perpetual search of the harmony between the plastic construction and the emotion, inspired by life, he defines himself as a "transfigurative" painter and according to him, painting is above all transfiguration of reality and not realism. André Brasilier was born of artist parents, his father Jacques was a symbolist painter, close to the Nabis. He entered the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1949, in the studio of Maurice Brianchon. He lived in Rome at the Villa Medici from 1954 to 1957.
