Curious illustrated manuscript of palmistry attributed to Rodolphus Golerius , possibly Rudolf Goclenius (1547-1628) humanist and professor of philosophy, logic, metaphysics and ethics at the University of Marburg.
4to, (270 x 180mm). Manuscript, frontispiece with delightful naturalistic patterned frame with gold illuminated details, with indication on title page Ambrosius ab Aurea feci anno Domini MDCIVL , 33 numbered pages, 4 of which contain pencilled silhouettes of hands, pp. 9-27 italicized Latin vergate, text divided into seventeen chapters, on last page a list of symbols for hand reading (slight defects). Coeval hardback binding with manuscript year on the plate (minor lacks and stains).
