Seligenstadt, Johannes de Colonia, Nicolaus Jenson, 1481. Famous incunabula edition of the Bible with commentary by Franciscan exegete Nicholas of Lyra, one of the first scholars to pay special attention to philological analysis of the biblical text. The present two-volume copy contains the Pentateuch and part of the Historical Books up to the fourth Book of Kings. 2 volumes (of 4), folio, (303 x 210mm). First volume consists of 282 papers, second volume of 136 and ends with paper O12, text in two columns, rubrics in red, maniculae and coeval notes in margins, contains the Pentateuch and part of the Historical Books up to the fourth Book of Kings. (Vol. I: antique restorations in the lower margin of e10 and s2, tiny woodworm holes from paper i5 to i8, slight water gouge to the lower outer margin from paper ?5 to %10, sporadic staining; Vol. II: sporadic and slight staining). Eighteenth-century full vellum binding with gold title on gusset at spine, splash cuts (very slight defects). Provenance: Della libreria P.
