Copy in coeval binding and with numerous annotations by a single hand of this edition of the commentary on Avicenna by Giacomo della Torre, a physician and jurist originally from Forli who taught at several universities in northern Italy including Padua where his influence is evidenced by two decrees (of 1465 and 1531) by which it was made obligatory for professors of medicine to follow his methods and the order of the arguments he proposed in reading Galen. Folio, (320 x 220mm). Text in two columns, woodcut initials, last blank paper (browning and woodworm holes with loss of a few letters to first 2-3 fascicles and last). Fine coeval half-leather binding on wooden boards with coeval clasps and brass fasteners, manuscript title to second plate (slight defects and small woodworm holes).
