Silver vermeil portable pyx. Dated 1577. Made in gilded, embossed and chiselled silver. One side is decorated with a monstrance between two candles, as vigil and permanent adoration. It says in Latin: 'The banquet in which Christ is taken is death to the wicked; life is sacrificed for the living.' On the back is the Mystic Lamb, which represents the son of God and the Eucharist. And it says in Latin: 'Here is God who takes away the sins of the world.' Both are Eucharistic symbols that embrace and enclose the mystery of what this sacred travel pyx holds inside. 8 x 7 x 2 cm.
