Attributed to Giovanni Domenico Porta (San Maurizio d'Opaglio, Italy, 1722 - Rome, 1780) 'Portrait of Pope Clement XIV' Miniature on vellum. In its original carved and gilded wooden frame. 12,5 x 9 cm. Our painting is clearly related to the 'Ritratto di papa Clemente XIV' kept in the Anteroom of the Throne of the Episcopal Palace, the main seat of the Museo della Città in Acquapendente, in the region of Lazio. As the museum states in its description, 'he was the official portraitist of the papal court during the governments of Clement XIII, Clement XIV and Pius VI. As the author of numerous portraits and some compositions of a religious nature, he was closely linked to two noble Roman families of the 18th century, the Visconti and the Campana families”.   Reference bibliography: - 'Giovanni Domenico Porta”.
