NGBAKA, North of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Wood, deep dark brown patina. Used in the rites of the Gaza male society, this powerful dance mask with a wide and bulging forehead represents a face framed by two ears in high relief. The intense and deep gaze is accentuated by the three notches on each side of the small circular eyes and the mouth is half-open on two short rows of teeth. 1st third of the XXth century. Height: 28 cm. Width: 23.5 cm. Restorations and cracks. Provenance: Private collection, Belgium.
