The Olympic Suite is composed of 50 lithographs and serigraphs chosen to represent various contemporary artistic trends. It was published to commemorate the first centenary of modern Olympism. The artists chosen work in very diverse movements and styles, from the hyperrealism of Antonio López to the abstraction of Sol Lewitt, including abstract expressionism, the geometrism of Arden Quin, conceptual art, pop art, the new realism of Baldaccini and Rotella, and the new fauvism of Dokoupil, among others. Among the artists represented are creators of great international renown, widely recognised by the critics.
Trained in Madrid, Berrocal decided to devote himself to sculpture during his stay in Paris in 1955, although he has also devoted himself to graphic work. He has exhibited in Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the United States, received the gold medal of the Bronze of Padua, the Grand Prize of Honour at the Brazil Biennial, and was named Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government. He is represented in the Museums of Modern Art in New York and Paris, the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, the Kunsthalle in Hamburg, the Juan March Foundation in Madrid, the National Gallery in Rome and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
