Son of decoration painter Julius Veith, student of Ferdinand Laufberger at the k.k. Kunstgewerbeschule des k.k. Museums für Kunst und Industrie. Graduated in Paris, travelled to Italy, Belgium, Tunis. From 1890, member of the Wiener Künstlerhaus, later he taught at the k.k. Kunstgewerbeschule des k.k. Museums für Kunst und Industrie. In 1920 Veith was appointed professor. Teacher of Julius Smolik. His grave of honour in the Döblinger Friedhof was designed by the sculptor Georg Leisek. Working mainly in Neo-Rococo, Veith's work stylistically follows the historicist-symbolist tradition of Hans Makart and Anselm Feuerbach and belongs to the so-called decorative painting of historicism. Awards: Reichel Prize, Archduke Carl Ludwig Medal, Kaiser Prize. Exhibition awards: Antwerp (gold medal), Berlin (International Art Exhibition 1996, gold medal), Vienna (gold medal), Paris (gold and bronze medal). Portrayed Lotte Medelsky and Georg Reimers et al. Volkstheater, Vienna: ceiling painting "Homage to Vindobona", "Wreathing of the poet Ferdinand Raimund" and stage curtain (1889); Dianabad, Vienna: ceiling painting for the swimming pool; Ronacher, Vienna: mural; Hofburg, Vienna: ceiling painting in the Maria Theresa Hall as the winner of the previous competition; Bürgertheater, Vienna: mural; Kärntner Straße 16, Vienna: (former Hotel Meissl & Schadn) facade mosaics; Stadttheater, Klagenfurt: ceiling painting "Lindwurmsage" in the break room; Theater Unter den Linden, Berlin (today Komische Oper): ceiling painting "Entrance of the Cheerful Muses through the Brandenburg Gate"; German Theater, Prague: stage curtain, wall and ceiling paintings; Stadttheater Aussig: Ceiling paintings with symbolic figures "Company", "Diligence", "Trade", "Traffic" and "Industry" (1908/09); City Theater Ostrau: ceiling painting (1905/06).
