Important mantel clock in finely chiseled bronze with an antique patina and gilding representing the abduction of Europa. The nymph is depicted at the base, while on either side of the bull, two female figures are busy weaving garlands or crowning the animal supported by a terrace "au naturel". The set rests on a contoured base with a rocaille decoration, punctuated by reserves with umbilicals and volutes. The enamelled dial, signed "Louis Goret à Paris", as well as the plate, indicate the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in increments of five in Arabic numerals.
Louis XV style (the dial and the movement from the 18th century; a figure is missing on the base).
Dimensions excluding base :

The original composition of this clock is based on a model created by the bronzemaker Jean-Joseph de Saint-Germain in the middle of the 18th century, of which a copy belongs to the collections of the Louvre Museum in Paris (illustrated in H. Ottomeyer and P. Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, Band I, p.125, fig.2.8.8).
