[AUBERT de LA CHESNAYE des BOIS (François) The perfect coachman, or the art of maintaining, & driving a crew in Paris & in the country. With an instruction to coachmen on carriage horses Paris, Mérigot, 1744. In-12, frontispiece engraved by Fessard after de Vernansal. Contemporary marbled brown calf, spine ribbed and decorated, red title page, one bit skilfully restored, corners restored, red edges. A good copy. This work was attributed to the duke of Nevers by Quérard; in his preface La Chesnaye des Bois says that he used the manuscript of a former coachman and improved it with the advice of Peretti, coachman of the duke of Nevers.
