The Caprices [Los Caprichos].
Incomplete suite of 76/80 plates engraved with etching, burin, drypoint and aquatint on laid paper (missing pl.12, 20, 45, 60).
Sheets: 24,5 x 34 cm; overall size: 25,2 x 36 cm. Etching and aquatint on vellum. Very nice proofs mounted on tabs.
Marginal foxing and stains, some spotting.
Bound in ½ percaline chagrin, first board cream yellowed with the self-portrait on the first board.
Possibly in 5th to 8th editions (between 1881 and 1907), the scratch in the left sky visible in plate 66 appearing in the 5th edition (Harris 36 to 115).
