Buddha statue in bronze, partly gilded, China, late Ming dynasty, 17th century
Seated in padmasana, right hand in bhumisparsa mudra (taking the earth as witness), serene and benevolent face with half-closed eyes, monastic robe with flower-chiseled edges, revealing his torso incised with the swastika, the usnisa visible among his curls, bronze with brown patina (and remains of brown/black lacquer) with gilded face, torso, hands and feet.
