Chased bronze and cut brass clock, gilded with matte and bright, with Sciences, in the guise of two children seated with instruments, in front of a cabinet containing the movement, on scrolled legs and topped by a trophy with attributes of Mercury, with torch, crown and laurel branch falls. White enamelled dial, signed "BAUDIN à Paris", with Roman numeral indexes for the hours and dots and Arabic numerals for the minutes, in black. Days of the week and month in red. Two openworked hands, one silvered fleurdelisé for the hours, one gold-plated with superimposed decreasing crowns, for the minutes, and two blackened steel arrows for the dates. The bezel is underlined by a frieze of interlacing pearls, with a leafy base at 6 o'clock. Rectangular base with a large central projection, decorated with a frieze of openwork leafy posts, framed by two rosettes, and by two leafy bases with garlands, on the short sides, and with moldings decorated with a laurel torus or a frieze of acanthus leaves, resting on four turned feet. Signed turntable. Wire suspension. Louis XVI period. H. Height : 38 cm. - Width : 37 cm. - Depth : 17,5 cm. Some cracks and small defects to the bronze and brass; some wear, scratches and small stains to the gilding; fixing of the globe to be revised. Small accident and missing hinge on the rear bezel, small chips on the glass. There are several variations of this clock, with two patinas, with a marble base.... There are several clockmakers with the name of BAUDIN active during the reign of Louis XVI.
