Small chest of drawers, slightly curved, in rosewood...

Small chest of drawers, slightly curved, in rosewood veneer, in reserves in violet wood frames, opening with two drawers and resting on four high feet. Ornamentation in gilded bronze with leaf motifs: such as falls, handles, key entries, lamp bases and small sabots, partly reported. Brown marble top with white veins. Traces of stamps at the plumb of the back legs: C. BIRCL..., possibly for Laurent-Charles BIRCLET, on the left, and illegible on the right, with the mark of Jurandes des Menuisiers-Ebénistes de Paris [JME]. Louis XV period. The back veneered with rosewood, probably later. H. Height : 82,5 cm. - Width : 63 cm. - Depth : 35,5 cm. Some cracks and old restorations; chips, some reattached and small missing marble; some cracks in the bronzes, with gilding wear. Laurent-Charles BIRCLET (c. 1735-1776), known as the Young, brother of Jacques BIRCKLE, received Master Cabinetmaker of Paris in 1766, supplier of the cabinetmaker Migeon.
