Our sheet is to be compared with the various studies of figures that make up the drawn corpus of this painter; in particular two drawings of men in oriental dress (Millon & associés, Dessins anciens et modernes, 29/06/2012 lot n°72 and Christie's, 08/10/1976, n°201) and the seated woman currently preserved in the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Quimper (INV. 873-2-43). These drawings are characteristic of Leprince's style, who uses sanguine generously in strong contrasts with the areas of reserve, with a bold line that is not very strong and numerous hatchings.
