RARE AND IMPORTANT RECTANGULAR BOX Wooden box, called "picnic box", for the transport of food, made of four levels and a lid, in black lacquered wood, decorated with gold on the large sides, of a couple of pheasants among peony trees in bloom, and a couple of cranes among lotuses, the small sides underlined with Greek. It is inserted in a wooden support comprising a base with red lacquered openwork panels, and two uprights rising on the short sides, with a red lacquered piriform structure, openwork palmette, and meeting at the top to form a large handle, decorated, like the base, with red lacquered openwork panels with floral motifs, and an iron ring allowing the suspension on a large stick. The whole is reinforced with iron plates enhanced with buttons. China, 19th century. Dim. with handle : 100 x 79 x 47 cm.
