ITALY, XVIE SIECLE. Stone tile of rectangular section carved with a head of satire in a medallion. H. 46 x L. 52 cm This carved plate allowed the ventilation of the interiors of palaces but also the evacuation of water. To be compared with a work by Lorenzo Rubini, Head of a faun, sculpted in the pavement of the great salon of the Villa Rotonda, built by Andrea Palladio (1508-1580) in Vicenza.
