Interesting letter about Napoleon's actions on the French stock market, indeed he wishes to buy various securities "[...] all the bonds of the insurance fund which would be lower than 6 ½, 3° that you make buy all the shares of the bank which would be lower than 1 200 [...]" He goes on to give an imperative instruction "[...] have a stockbroker and let no one know that you are buying, not even the Minister of the Treasury. It is by the ignorance in which the latter will remain that I will judge if you are operating well. - Let your operations begin tomorrow. [...]".
This letter does not appear in Napoleon's correspondence.
