Text of law with autograph signature, Paris, August 20, 1792. 1 ½ p. in-folio on vellum.
Beautiful document signed by Danton as Minister of Justice.
It was in the aftermath of the insurrection of August 10, 1792 that Danton was appointed Minister of Justice by the Legislative Assembly and became as a minister member of the Provisional Executive Council and as a substitute for the Insurrectional Commune, the true head of the government.
Ten days after the insurrection, Danton signed a decree to the glory of the victims of the "despotism of the 10th".
