Maquet is a French house of stationery and luxury leather goods founded in 1841 by the brothers Hector and Charles Maquet. The House of Maquet became the patented supplier of the Empress Eugenie, the wife of Napoleon III, as well as several European courts.
It won numerous prizes and medals at the World Fairs and also marketed tobacco products, including snuffbox lighters. At the beginning of the 20th century, it produced many friction lighters made from Chinese snuff boxes.
