In 1964, the publisher Filipacchi launches " Chouchou " a comic journal different from the classics of the time. Chouchou takes its name from the hairy mascot of the program Salut les copains. It is distinguished by its very large format (56x 40 cm) but especially by an eclectic summary which gathers the surrealistic Bébé Cyanure of Forest, the foreign masters Hugo Pratt (with the western Billy James), Chester Gould (Dick Tracy) and Charles Schulz (whose Peanuts make there one of their first appearance in the French press), and two remarkable creations: Les naufragés du temps, a science fiction series by Forest and Gillon, and Tenebrax, the first collaboration of Lob and Pichard, a fantastic and humorous series set in the Parisian subway. Prefiguring the magazines of the following decade, Chouchou came probably too early and stopped at its fourteenth number.
