[Manuscript]. HORACE in French verse. 18th century. In-8, contemporary garnet morocco, spine with 5 nerves, gilt title, ornate caissons, boards decorated in the Duseuil style, gilt roulette on the edges of the spine and the back covers, gilt edges on marbling (uncovered headpieces, snags on a nerve and on the tail of the spine, dull corners, qq.. slightly soiled). Neat manuscript, almost without erasure or correction. It offers a selection of works by Horace, with the Latin text and the French translation opposite: Odes choisies (4 books, p.1-237); Epodes (p. 238-264); Satyrs (p. 265-280); Epitaphs (p. 281-296); L'art poétique (p. 297-311); Odes supplémentaires (p. 312 at the end). Provenance: Louis-Alexandre Gitton Du Plessis, bibliophile in Blois, born in 1800 (engraved armorial bookplate); several early handwritten bookplates on endpapers: De La Coudraye; Minguet Desjumeaux; Laisné.
